Murphy School of Dance is located right in the heart of downtown Murphy, North Carolina, currently serving students and families from eight surrounding counties in Western North Carolina, North Georgia, East Tennessee and other bordering states and counties.

Thank you for your interest in MSOD! Our next open enrollment for GROUP classes will be in June in preparation for our 4 week summer program this July - flexible schedule ages 2.5 (if potty trained) through 18 and up. All June enrollment dates will be posted in May to our social media! Please follow us on Facebook and Instagram for updates or check out our website, where the latest dates will be published! 2024 group class rates will be established in May. We are PROUD to say that through ALL of the inflation, our tuition rates have NOT changed! We pride ourselves in offering affordable and professional dance education to our community! We can keep doing this with YOUR help! Please help us spread the word and refer your friends supporting LOCAL. Classes Offered In:
Tap/Ballet (ages 3-6)
Tap/Jazz (ages 7 and up)
Ballet Technique (ages 7 and up)
Pre-Pointe/Pointe (instructor recommendation only)
Lyrical/Contemporary (ages 7 and up)
Tumbling (ages 3 and up)
Hip Hop (ages 5 and up)
Private lessons (by request only/different rates apply)
NOTE: Some classes are NOT combination classes. This is dependent upon age and skill level (example: tap/jazz vs. tap only, jazz only)
Scheduling:
We base our class schedules off of the "Parent/Student Scheduling Survey" found In the registration packet. This process allows us to better accommodate and consider everyone's scheduling needs and concerns before forming our class schedule. We have a great success rate in this process to better serve EVERYONE! All class assignments will be sent out via email by registration deadline as outlined in the registration paperwork.

ABOUT MURPHY SCHOOL OF DANCE
Est. 1988
Offering both, a Pre-professional conservatory program and a recreational dance program within one studio environment. Classes are available in a variety of dance genres to students ages 3 to 18, private lessons for all ages, Mommy & Me Yoga 18-36 months, and monthly adult classes for ages 18+. MSOD specializes in ballet, pointe, tap, jazz, lyrical, hip hop and tumbling. Classes are also offered in clogging, baton twirling, acro, ballroom, contemporary and modern dance as interest allows. In an environment which celebrates each and every student's talents and abilities, MSOD seeks to provide a create outlet for student self-expression and to promote and atmosphere of community and compassion. We believe our students will rise to the expectation we set for them... so we set them HIGH!

Established in 1988, MSOD offers students the opportunity to commit to either a Recreational or Conservatory dance program within one quality studio environment. With former students now performing in Las Vegas, New York, and Los Angeles, MSOD has proven its ability to train and guide students to success at all levels of commitment. Over our 30 years, we have strived to create an artistic learning environment where everyone truly feels wanted and appreciated! Welcoming students of ALL backgrounds, our instructors aim to teach their students more than just dance, often focusing in lessons of kindness, compassion, giving, accountability and sharing while relating all topics and desired morals back to the arts; our passion!
A sincere "dance family", MSOD provides the highest quality of dance education within a loving and nurturing environment. Students are encouraged to be accountable, responsible, and self reliant; qualities we know will assist them in all of their future endeavors entering adulthood. Whether you’re looking to learn new dance moves or hone in on your existing talent, we strive to meet the goals and potential of each and every student. 150 minute reservation
Party options are offered to ages 3-18 with a maximum of 20 participating guests (meaning MORE people can attend but instruction such as dancing and crafts are limited to 20 participants only). Party decorations are NOT include. Inflatables such as jump houses are not permitted indoor. All decorations MUST be wall-safe.
Bookings available on Fridays and Saturdays only as Sundays are reserved for cleanings. Some Wednesdays available by request.

Because our program is primarily focused in the afternoon and evening hours, we do NOT follow the Cherokee County School System's weather policy. In the event of inclement weather, all MSOD weather closings or delays will be announced via Facebook by 1 pm the day of concern. Please follow us on facebook to stay up to date!
